Hello everybody,

as you can see this is my first posting on this forum, and I'm pretty new to the whole stuff ...

Currently we are running an Hitachi Scanning Electron Microscope (we use it in combination with an FIB) which is controlled by an Sord Future32 system. It's old, using one MFM-harddisk, and we fear it could stop working tomorrow, next week, next month, ... and then the complete system would be unusable for quite a long time (and all additional steps will be pretty expensive).
I have seen there's at least one other group working with the same system (http://www.easy68k.com/EASy68Kforum/viewtopic.php?t=828), and they also tried to (or succeded in?) moving the control-system to PC-based hw and running Easy68k.
Are there any hints/tips you'd provide me/us?

Thanks in advance, and have a nice day

As long as control is only via serial and/or printer port(s) you should be able to port it to EASy68K or even native PC code.

If you have the source code for the software porting to native code on PC hardware would probably be best.

Otherwise you will have to generate a CP/M 68K system that can boot on EASy68K. Something I've not managed to do yet because I don't have the sysgen executables for CP/M 68K.

Whatever you do the first step would be to image the hard drive and copy all documents and software for the system to something PC readable.
