I could not manage to change the content of a byte by clicking on the desired location. Any information on this topic?

Here I have opened the memory window, clicked on the FF at location 000000 and typed 41, 42, 43. The cursor (the rectangle) is now at the first digit of location 000003. To the right we can see the ASCII equivalent "ABC" of 41, 42, 43.

The only thing I can think of that would prevent memory modification is a running program that is changing the memory contents.
