Post subject:  Assembler Directives

Hi:

My interest is in generating source code for equipment that's typically decades old by reading the PROMs. In this case it's the Trimble GPS receiver called the Trimpack. See:
http://www.prc68.com/I/Trimpack.shtml#GraphicsTP

I have read the 8 bit PROMs and combined them into a 16 bit file correctly, i.e. the ASCII comments read correctly. There are jump tables at the start of the code in the address range 0000h to 0400h and in other places there are ASCII strings. What are the assembler directives to generate hex or ASCII data? Is there a list of all the directives?

It would be helpful to have a list of the 68000 commands that included their hex values, but so far I haven't found it. It helps to learn the hex code for things like Return From Subroutine or GOTO since there must be a label just after them.

See EASy68K Help, Assembler Commands/Directives

The DC directive is used to assemble ASCII text and numeric data.

Code:
message DC.B  'Hello World',$d,$a,0
nbyte   DC.B   12
nword   DC.W   1234
nlong   DC.L   12345678
